THUNDER BAY, ON - February 16, 2012 – There is plenty of fun in store for the entire family during the tenth annual Voyageur Winter Carnival hosted by Fort William Historical Park, February 18th to 20th. Enjoyable outdoor recreational activities, games, and contests highlight this exciting celebration of winter. The Carnival runs from 11 am to
5 pm daily, including Monday, February 20th which is Family Day in Ontario.
Visitors can enjoy tubing runs, the giant snow maze, skating and ‘curling on the Kam,’ snowshoeing, children’s sliding hill, solar viewing, carnival games, cabane à sucre or sugar shack hosted by Club Canadien Francais, indoor crafts, musicians and magicians, and “Wii” games. Meet historic characters through the “Passport to 1815 Scavenger Hunt.”
Contests include log sawing, name the baby lambs, kids three-legged race, family “moose ski” race, tug of war, family relay, snowsnake, and ‘drawing to the button’ on the Kam. Different contests happen on different days, so please check the FWHP website for schedules. Delicious food is on sale courtesy of Gran Sasso and the Victoria Inn. “Take out” services will be available.
Admission is: $10.00 per day for Adults, and $8.00 for Seniors, Students age 13+, and Youths age 6 to 12, and free for kids age 5 and under. Buy a three-day pass for the price of two days. Passes can be purchased at Admissions in the Visitor Centre from 8:30 am to 5 pm daily.
