Mayor Don Ness has indicated the City of Duluth’s intent to pursue a partnership with Google to bring fiber-to-home connections to city residents. Google plans to select a community to test ultra-high speed connections at more than a gigabit per second later this year through a competitive process.

Lac Des Isles Mine Set to Re-open
THUNDER BAY, ON - January 21, 2010 - Bill Biggar Joined North American Palladium in
October of 2008, and one of his first decisions was to close the Lac Des Isles mine north of Thunder Bay. At the time the prices of palladium the mines principal product had fallen with the down turn in the market and some creative selling of palladium on the world market by some Russian producers. Biggar calculates that the move to shut the mine down saved the company about $75M. His company went on to look for a mining resource that was still profitable during the downturn in palladium fortunes. They found what they were looking for when they purchased Cadiscor’s closed “Sleeping Giant” gold mine in Quebec. This mine has just re-opened to commercial production January 1st and will continue to diversify and add to the precious metal company’s revenues.

Regional Chief says no to HST

Magma Metals Spending Big Money on Thunder Bay North Project.
THUNDER BAY, ON ---- October 13, 2009 ---- Magma Metals an Australian Miner and
explorer is spending big dollars on its Thunder Bay North Project. A prospector walking along the shores of Current Lake found a large angular boulder near the shore, and chipped away a sample for analysis. The results came back positive for the metals Platinum and Palladium, and there has been claim staking and ever increasing exploration in this area ever since. The initial stone chip was eight years ago, and now after over 50,000 meters of drilling the company has completed an initial resource estimate which is NI43-101 and JORC compliant. The exploration camp shown above is at Current Lake where the miners are doing infill drilling to convert inferred resources to indicated resources
